“Summary”
This article is
taking about how so many of our star athlete’s past and present have used
Enhancers. These enhancers are something that is take to make them perform
better at what they are doing. These enhancers are not legal by any means, therefore
they are something that should not be used. Many people question which athletes
are using these enhancers like Steroids. It is unfortunate that we have to ask
ourselves these questions. But with the way things are these days it is very hard
to distinguish who is using and who is not using them. What is said a lot is
that the athletes are cheating. With the enhancers being illegal it is
considered cheating, when they are being used to help their performance.
In many Cases there are athlete’s taking
these forms of enhancers and they are shortening their lives. In recent times
we have lost some of them from Heart attacks, which are most likely because of
the enhancers they ingested. All people want is for the purity of the sports to
come back. So that they can trust the people that their children look up to and
see as their idol. It is unfortunate
that these people who are in the lime light will put these things into their
bodies and pay the ultimate price, which is their lives.
“Paraphrase”
The
story “Destroyed” is all about how we view our athletes today. The people that
we looked up to as children and the ones we watch now as adults. Everyone likes
to watch sports and to cheer for their favorite team or player. What is sad is
that we now in this day and age have to question the ones we see as an idol.
The players we admire for their ability to play the sport and be successful at
it. We have to question in the back of our minds if the one we idolize is a
cheat. Are they someone who uses these illegal drugs or enhancer’s they are
called to help their game. We don’t want to have to ask ourselves this question
but we have to, because these drugs are so popular now that a large number of
our star athletes have turned to them.
These enhancer’s known as steroids
have become the biggest controversy over athletes. We don’t want to believe that
this star is taking something to enhance their game. The saddest part is that
these drugs are being take to show better performance for their fans. And in
the end that athlete pays the ultimate price which is losing their life because
of what they put in there body. And if they get caught while doing this and
playing the game they are remembered always as a cheater. Nobody wants to be
known as a cheater at something they loved doing.

Athletes- those who dope, who take
steroids, who cheat—are the victims of far more serious maladies then their
sport.
